Inspections, Testing & Maintenance
Fire sprinkler systems are designed to do one thing: save lives!
Contrary to popular belief, a fire sprinkler system is not designed to extinguish fires. It is designed to contain a fire long enough to allow the local fire department to arrive on scene and extinguish the fire through traditional firefighting methods.
The ability of your sprinkler system to contain a fire depends upon its integrity and the working order of the system. The only way to keep a fire sprinkler system in working order is to perform routine inspections as mandated by the National Fire Protection Authority, your state's Fire Marshall, and your local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
NFPA 25 is the national standard for inspecting, testing, and maintenance of all fire protection systems. American Fire uses it as the sole guideline by which we administer services to all customers. Our duty is to keep all customers informed on these standards and to present a thorough explanation of the necessary services needed for all fire protection systems.
Inspections
The NFPA standard has extensive requirements for the inspection of fire protection systems, which must be performed by a licensed and experienced technician. American Fire maintains a staff of qualified technicians and is fully equipped with all inspection and testing equipment necessary to inspect virtually any fire protection system.
Local and state fire marshals, insurance underwriters, other local AHJs, and corporate life safety departments often require certified documentation of inspection reports, testing, and system tagging to show record of system information. American Fire has devised an excellent record-keeping and tagging system to provide all customers with the necessary reports and documentation to meet all standards and mandated regulations.
